Who is Gabi?
Gabriel Pareras Fusté, Gabi, is considered internationally as one of the greatest references of magic of his time. He specialized in close-up magic, especially with cards, although his technical and theoretical knowledge, his contributions and his vast repertoire encompass all branches of illusionism. As a writer of numerous essays and books, he dedicated much of his adult life to promote, teach, and research the fine art of magic.
As an avid reader and scholar of magic and other disciplines such as philosophy, psychology, arts, or neuroscience, his brilliant contributions in the field of magical theory and philosophy stand out. His work has inspired and continues to inspire magicians all over the world. He is the father of so-called Fictional Magic (so often misunderstood), his personal conception of magic. He himself was very critical of “armchair theories”, referring to inconsistent observations and arguments without a solid foundation. He was not very fond of a dogmatic and inflexible understanding of magic. All of his magic conceptions and philosophy were developed as an answer to the concerns, troubles, and limitations that he himself found “on stage” while performing, and as he explained, many answers were found outside of magic. Within his own field he gets inspiration from and builds upon the work of other referents of magic from the Magic School of Madrid such as Juan Tamariz, Pepe Carrol, Luis García, Camilo Vázquez and especially Arturo de Ascanio, to whom his book “The ever-going refinement of the very same” is dedicated.
As a creator of magic effects, he has contributed with original effects, highlighting the emblematic “Coleridge’s Flower” or “Suggestion”, as well as with his interpretations of many other effects and classics such as “Caroline Aces”, “The Restless Lady”, “Centaurs and mermaids“, “the Chop Cup“…
As an interpreter he was gifted and graceful, regardless of the elements at play; cards, coins, balls, or ropes or any other, his handling was fluid, plastic and almost hypnotic.

ABOUT COSAS DE GABI
This NON-PROFIT initiative was launched by a group of close friends, students and people with great appreciation and respect for Gabriel Pareras, Gabi.
Gabi was a unique human being, gifted, humble and generous. He devoted most of his life to the Art of Magic; studying, teaching and performing. In spite of his reluctance to draw attention to himself he came to be one of most relevant and influential figures in Magic in recent times.
We consider this project to be something both necessary and useful for the magic community and a project Gabi would gladly support himself. It is basically an open access archive and information resource of Gabi’s body of work, routines, concepts, teachings, quotes and also his recommended bibliography.
The GOALS of this project are:
Honor the person and legacy of Gabriel Pareras and contribute to its international
recognition.Make Gabriel Pareras invaluable contribution to the Art of Magic more accessible for the international Magic community, organizing and referencing the concepts and routines he developed throughout his career, since they are dispersed in large number of records of different nature (books, booklets, informal publications, conferences, interviews and conversations…)
Bringing Gabi’s universe closer to those interested in him and help to spread his ideas to inspire others as they inspired us.

Chris Power is a big guy who takes things slow and has long held interest in magic.
He is considered by many to be one of the most thoughtful close-up magicians around today. (All very subjective as he is writing this himself).
Since he entered this crazy magic arena some 40 years ago he has travelled widely performing and lecturing in Europe, America, and Japan, when not working on various other projects which include Opus magazine and its connected conventions on the Isle of Man and London.
He's won the Magic Circle close-up award, the International Magic close-up award (Ron's Day) and many accolades. He has also appeared several times at the Magic Castle.
During this exclusive Sleight School Seminar he'll discuss his approach to various card handlings he's used and go into his method for a signature piece, Coins through Silk and generally waffle along about anything people want to know.
He has bought drinks for many nice people over the years and they have said nice things about him. This has afforded him much.
